The Wisconsin Legislative Director will provide ongoing support to AFP-WI and AFPF-WI staff, particularly through state policy analysis and engagement with the Wisconsin State Legislature, government officials, coalition partners, volunteers, and activists. This includes legislative initiatives, strategy and planning for legislation, regulatory reform, and related activities. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with the AFP Policy team on research and analysis of current law and proposed state legislation that fits within the broader scope of Americans for Prosperity and the Americans for Prosperity Foundation.
Reporting to the State Director, working closely with the State Deputy Director and AFP-National policy and government affairs teams, the candidate will assist and participate in the organization's advocacy efforts in the statehouse in support of our policy priorities. A strong candidate will have existing knowledge of policy, process, and personnel in the Wisconsin legislature and administration, experience working in a political capacity, and ability to quickly gather the appropriate knowledge to provide recommendations for new policy initiatives. The candidate should have a commitment to the principles of the organization - specifically, a firm commitment to empowering individuals to improve their own lives, and creating a society of mutual benefit.
