Americans For Prosperity is seeking a Policy Manager to lead one of our three policy portfolios, and supervise a team of Policy Fellows and Analysts in our pursuit of a freer society of equal rights and mutual benefit. As our Policy Manager for the Removing Barriers to Opportunity portfolio, you will lead a team in a wide range of topics such as: labor, licensing, immigration, trade, welfare, and education. The role will include leading a team and ensuring the collaboration and coordination needed across our efforts. It will entail the appropriate prioritization of opportunities to achieve our goals, the right allocation of staff resources, and the tracking and reporting of efforts. This position reports to Senior Vice President of Policy and coordinates with other Policy Managers to ensure efficient allocation of efforts across all of issue areas.     Responsibilities

    • Drive issue development efforts and lead a growing team of 4-7 Fellows/Analysts performing work in issues such as labor, licensing, immigration, trade, welfare, and education
    • Develop, research, and write research and policy reports, or coordinate this activity with the team, contributing to AFP’s understanding of critical issues
    • Advise, collaborate and connect across the policy team and our Network partners to develop strategies which advance our goals
    • Collaborate with stakeholders on the engagement and outcomes of policy efforts related to the portfolio, both on the Federal and State level, to provide Network partners with information on and policy reform activity
    • Field requests from our state chapters and partners for issue information and analysis, particularly managing that information flow

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
    • 5+ years of experience with expertise on issues including labor, licensing, immigration, trade, welfare, or education
    • 3+ years demonstrated experience and interest in leading and supervising a team
    • Strong writing and analytical skills
    • Strong oral communication skills, able to articulate vision to others and represent the Network in public forums
    • High level of initiative and ability to work independently and in a team setting
    • Ability to collaborate and connect across various teams for input and execution
    • Solid understanding of and passion for individual liberty and classical liberal philosophy
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and high sense of urgency
